INCENTIVE$ Salary Supplements

Salary supplements are structured in 10 steps. They range from $300 a year for educators taking a few classes to $5,000 a year for those with a Bachelor’s Degree and state licensure in Early Childhood Education.  

All supplements are paid in two 6-month installments based on number of hours worked.

Salary Supplement Levels

Level 1 - $300 / Year

To be eligible for level one, the INCENTIVE$ participant must have completed **5 semester hours related to birth to five / Early Childhood Education.

Level 2 - $600 / Year

To be eligible for level 2, participants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • **18 semester hours of well-rounded coursework including at least 4 birth to five focused semester hours
  • **NM Child Development Certificate that includes 11 semester hours in Early Childhood Education
  • **CDA from Council for Professional Recognition with at least 11 birth to five focused semester hours
  • **11 semester hours of birth to five classes

Level 3 - $900 / Year

For level 3, participant must have completed **24 semester hours of well-rounded coursework including at least 6 birth to five focused semester hours.

Level 4 - $1200 / Year

To qualify for level 4, participants must complete any of:

  • **36 semester hours of well-rounded coursework including at least 11 birth to five focused semester hours
  • **One Year Vocational Certificate in Early Childhood Education
  • **Associate’s Degree with fewer than 11 birth to five focused semester hours
  • **70 semester hours of well-rounded coursework toward an ECE degree

Level 5 - $1700 / Year

For level 5, students must meet the following criteria:

  • **45 semester hours of well-rounded coursework including at least 18 birth to five focused semester hours, OR
  • **Associate’s Degree plus or including at least 11 birth to five focused semester hours

Level 6 - $2100 / Year

To be eligible for level 6, participants must take **57 semester hours of well-rounded coursework including at least 18 semester hours focused on birth to five

Level 7 - $2500 / Year

For level 7 eligibility, participants must either:

  • Associate’s Degree plus or including at least 24 birth to five focused semester hours, OR
  • **Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree with fewer than 11 birth to five focused semester hours

​Level 8 - $3400 / Year

To reach level 8, students can meet either of the following criteria:

  • 90 semester hours toward a Bachelor's Degree, including at least 18 birth to five focused semester hours OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus or including at least 11 birth to five focused semester hours

​Level 9 - $4500 / Year

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus or including at least 18 birth to five focused semester hours OR
  • Master’s Degree plus or including at least 11 birth to five focused semester hours

Level 10 - $5000 / Year

  • Bachelor’s Degree & Licensure in Early Childhood Education         

Additional Notes

Family child care home professionals have three years to achieve the education needed to move up.

**Denotes temporary levels of education. Center teachers awarded at one of these levels must move up to the next level within two years in order to retain eligibility. Family child care home professionals have three years to achieve the education needed to move up. Deadlines will be re-established at each temporary level.
